Extracurricular activities 2011-2012

All clubs are from 3.30pm until 4.30pm

Children eat a snack (provided by the parents in the morning) before going to the club.

Fine Arts - from 3 to 6 yrs old, on Mondays
Maximum 10.
Moderator: Manon BREZAULT

Children will make manual activities combining the use of different materials (painting, salt dough, plaster, cardboard, plastic, pebbles, sand, seeds, textiles, wool, beads ...) and techniques (modeling, folding, gluing, painting, drawing, ...).
Thus, the club will allow children to combine the development of manual skills and a creative spirit.
The aim is that each child can make himself objects that he can take home and reuse for other fun activities: making masks, mandalas, puppets, various decorations, musical instruments, etc.
2 to 3 sessions will be devoted to each activity so that children learn to implement a project in stages.

Dance club - from 3 to 6 yrs old, on Mondays
                     from 7 yrs old, on Thursdays
Moderator: Amandine Doat (“Conservatoire de Lyon” degree)

Courses will be composed of warming up, dance exercises, improvisation workshops and choreographical creations. The aim of the club is listening to the group and one’s own body, learn to perceive the movement in space, create one’s own movement and acquire a notion of dance in the occidental culture.

Theater club – from 7 to 11 yrs old,  on Tuesdays

Discover the art of theatre through physical and vocal exercises. For older children (from CE1 to CM2) on Thursdays (maximum 10 participants):
This club will allow the dramatic awakening  and a fun consciousness raising to listen to themselves and to each other. Through physical and vocal exercises, children will learn to use their emotional capacities and to share them to create a group dynamic. Performing skits, classic and contemporary plays will help children grow and assert themselves in sharing laughter and excitement!

Children books club – from 4 to 6 yrs old, on Tuesdays

Each week, children will be invited to discover a wide range of children books. With the pleasure of listening and living a story, the child builds reading skills and a sensibility which will be useful in his school life as well as later in life. The club aims to develop written and oral language skills. The work done during the year will be given to the children. If the children are motivated we can write a story.

« Circus club » - from 4 to 12 yrs old, on Tuesdays
 
Moderator: Emilien Joannoteguy

Juggling, balancing acts, magic tricks, clowns…… Emilien will show the diversity of The Circus world to your children. Children will choose their favourites and different workshop will be created. Children will also make their costumes and decors for the end of year show.
 
"The English Painting club"  - from 7 yrs old, on Wednesdays

Moderator: Valérie Moulin. 

In this club we are going to speak English. To wag the tongues, we will discover and we will get our inspiration from the intriguing English painters J. John Atkinson Grimshaw and Anster Fitzgerald, from their mysterious landscapes and their fairy scenes.
To wag the fingers, we will experience different techniques such as salt painting or sponge painting to create fantasy paintings which will be exhibited in December and may.

o à atordayseir fairy scAwakening body / yoga - from 4 to 7 yrs old, on Wednedays

Awakening body through the yoga techniques allows children, who already have a natural flexibility, to keep fitness but also to gain balance, coordination and a self-control that help us to concentrate and calm themselves. Throughout the sessions, children acquire automatisms of relaxation that they can reuse when they feel the need.
Presented in a fun way, the sessions will introduce the postures through games and imagination (especially based on references to animals and nature of the postures, "the cat stretch," "the mountain", "the tree," "the dog upside down").
Each session will consist of three phases:

Football club - from 7 yrs old, on Wednesdays

The club’s aim is to discover group and team spirit through football. To learn to respect rules, fair-play and respect for the referee and the opponent. To acquire technics at a certain tactical culture to be more at ease in a real football club.
During the winter we will be inside and do different theoretical lessons as well as skills training.
Games will be our foremost aim.

Mime and puppets club - from 3 to 6 yrs old, on Thursdays

Learning body  and verbal language through mime and puppetry. For the youngest children (3 to 6 years) on Tuesdays (maximum 10 participants):
This extracurricular activity will allow smaller kids to learn new ways to communicate and also to develop their capacity to create stories and to represent them. The children imagination is rich and put forward for the creation of short stories through finger plays and dramatic games with the use of figures and objects.

Sciences club - for CE1 to CM2 children, on Thursdays
From the 20th October and for 8 sessions only.

Ms Carlier proposes a Science club to show pupils that their daily life is full of scientific wonders. We will make fun and surprising experiments. Each child will discover and experiment for oneself.

"Music discovery" – from kindergarten 3 (5 yrs old) to 2nd grade (7 yrs old), on Fridays
