At the end of the lower
secondary school, the pupils take an exam known as the “diplôme national du
brevet” (DNB)
- ‘Lycée’
(upper secondary school) : from ‘seconde’ (2nd) to ‘terminale’
(final year)
At the end of the upper secondary school, the pupils take the French ‘baccalauréat’ exam.
Mode of operation:
All the high school pupils are both registered part of Jules Verne and part of the CNED (Centre National d'Education à Distance i.e. distance learning national centre).
By following the CNED courses, the pupils are sure to follow the French national curriculum, take the official exams (DNB, ‘baccalauréat’) and join the right class once back in France or when moving to
another French school part of the AEFE (Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l’Etranger, i.e. agency for French teaching abroad) network.
All
the high school pupils are supported full time by a team of assistants.
Those assistants guide the pupils during their learning journey. They
can provide personalised support, and ensure that each pupil becomes
more and more autonomous.
With this mode of operation (school and CNED), the pupils have
- access to a classroom
- a structured schedule
- access to sports lessons (not available when pupils are only registered to the CNED)
- access to a computer room and IT lessons (they take the B2i exam),
- receive a monthly evaluation report, in addition to the evaluation report from the CNED
- are trained before taking exames (mock exams for DNB and ‘baccalauréat’)
- support from Jules Verne when dealing with the CNED
- access to the school's library
- the opportunity to join the school's cultural events and days out (museum, exhibitions, etc)
The
CNED is responsibile for official evaluations and guidance. 12
homeworks per subjects (6 in some cases) are to be sent to the CNED per
year, and are scored by the CNED.
The school can also give more information on:
- links with previous children from our school
- the existing agreement between AEFE and CNED
